Impressionist Textured Landscape

This lesson explores how Impressionist artists create texture on flat surfaces and use varying shades of colour to create depth. Students will create their own landscape scene using plasticine and mark making techniques.

Year level suitability: Foundation – Secondary

Duration: Approximately 2 lessons

Materials:

• Thick cartridge paper (150gsm +), card or canvas, cut into a circle or square shape

• Plasticine

• Mark making tools

• Images of landscape paintings
