Hi, I’m Tahlia, a passionate educator with a diverse background in visual arts, education and management in corporate structures. For over a decade, I’ve been deeply involved in visual arts education, starting as a teacher in both primary and secondary schools within private and independent settings. Seeking a change from teaching, I transitioned into a role at a not-for-profit art gallery, where I successfully implemented workshop programs, art exhibitions, and community events.
I ventured into a Key Account Manager position at a leading art supply company in Victoria. In this role, I visited hundreds of schools each year, conducting consultation appointments to build art programs, advising new teachers on setting up their art spaces, running professional development sessions for entire schools, and presenting at various education conferences. During this time, I built an e-learning platform for art teachers, delivering art lessons and developing a broad range of free and paid content to assist art and classroom teachers with their lesson planning.
I transformed my role into more of an “art teacher accomplice,” providing advice to new teachers, generating innovative ideas for seasoned teachers, and developing free resources for my customers. While also cross-selling products, because business is business after all. Over time, I developed hundreds of resources, lesson plans, and curriculum outlines and witnessed many art teachers overcoming different challenges. This role became more about professional development than the product itself. I loved seeing the joy and wonder in the eyes of adults when they learned a new art technique or realized they were more creative than they thought.
When this role ended, it gave me the opportunity to discover new things about myself and develop a concept for my own exciting business. I believe that every student deserves a high-quality education program, and every adult should recognize the value of the visual arts and unlock their own creativity.
Having conducted numerous workshops on well-being, art processes, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, team building, and critical thinking skills, my goal is to continue empowering teachers, bringing joy and excitement to students, and inspiring organizations to embrace the critical and creative thinking that the visual arts can foster.
